You are known as the father of Bengali megaserials since you gave the viewers their first Janani. Then why at 50 did you decide to start all over again in Mumbai?
I needed a change and age is not a factor if you have the spirit in you. The infrastructure and attitude in Mumbai is very good.

The budget is more and people are perfectionists. I am really enjoying working here.
Which Hindi serial are you making?
It is a 52 episode serial to be aired for an hour at the 10 pm slot on Mondays in a popular Hindi channel. The name of the serial is Maan Mein Hain Biswas.
It is more of a devotional serial inspired by true life stories on miracles. The serial is produced by Dhiraj Kumar.
Who are acting in the serial?
All the big names in Mumbai. For starters, you will see Nitish Bharadwaj (of Krishna fame) anchoring the serial.
But he is not going to be in his Krishna avatar, he is going to be like the man next door, who will introduce the viewer to the concept on every episode. Apart from him, there are actors like Sachin Khedekar, Sudha Chandran and Juhi Parmer working in the serial.

Is this the first time you are working in Mumbai?
Not really. I have done adfilms before and a Bhojpuri serial named Didiya. But this is the first time I am making a Hindi serial.
Do you think there is a sudden rush to make it in Mumbai?
Why shouldn't there be? People should move on for the better. I am glad Bharat Kaul and Sayantani Ghosh have already done so. More people should come to Mumbai from Kolkata.
There is lot of scope here, especially for serial makers.
